ModelSanAntonian SA300 Event


As San Antonio celebrates turning 300 years old, a local non-profit is turning the city’s attention to the style and fashionable accomplishments of its residents. Fashion Group International’s San Antonio Chapter has partnered with six local award-winning artists to design limited edition t-shirts based on the concept of what it means to be a #ModelSanAntonian, and you are going to want one.

Participating in this historic campaign are: 

-Cruz Ortiz, whose iconic bilingual work has been shown in Ireland, Puerto Rico, and most recently on the cover of Texas Monthly Magazine.
-Naomi Wanjiku, a celebrated textile artist originally from Kenya and has been featured on the BBC World Service and Wall Street International.
-Angelina Mata, renowned luxury evening and bridal fashion designer who has shown at New York Fashion Week. 
-Agosto Cuellar, who is the principal founder of "Runway En La Calle", the annual avant-Garde Fashion show in the heart of the historic Westside of San Antonio.
-Golden Skyy, who is the most recent recipient of the San Antonio Fashion Awards’ Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.
-Gio Dizzurita who is a self-taught Mexican-American artist and was the winner for the San Antonio Fiesta Flambeau Parade Official Art in 2016 & 2017.

The t-shirts will debut May 23rd during San Antonio’s Tricentennial month, and proceeds will benefit FGI – San Antonio’s mission of designing the future of fashion in San Antonio. Regional Director Xitlalt Herrera-Salazar says the artists’ work will be printed in limited quantities. “With only 50 shirts of each artist’s design, making the quintessential 300 shirts in total, we are so grateful to these San Antonio talents for giving of their time to the #ModelSanAntonian campaign,” she says. “What better way for the fashion industry in San Antonio to celebrate the Tricentennial than by also unifying artists who are creating stunning body of works here in the Alamo City.”
